Yes, the bubbler was in full operation 15 years ago today, October 21. An amazing variety of birds have come in to drink, splash and claim the bubbler as theirs. We've counted 117 species like the Chestnut-sided Warbler above. There have been rarities, like this Varied Thrush on January 23, 2003. This is my crude drawing of the bird when it came to drink on that snowy, frigid day for the 11th record in Missouri. This thrush is also the bird that challenged me to document with photos instead!
I began photographing that spring of 2003 with many birds coming in, including this Blackburnian "Wow-bler!"
To celebrate the occasion, I have a quiz for you. Can you identify this "Blurry Bird"?
Clue: It is a new winter arrival.
Answer will be posted on Friday!
